The Division: Technology for Energy Systems and Renewable Energy of the ZAE Bayern is active in a wide range of applied research and development areas. These activities range from the utilisation of solar thermal and biomass energy to thermodynamic and electrochemical systems as well as heat pumps of various kinds, power plant systems, fuel cells, chillers and heat pumps with PCM.

This involves the development and technical supervision of innovative systems and their components. Complex energy supply systems are optimised in terms of performance and financial effectiveness. Dynamic system simulation supports manufacturers and operators in the planning and implementation of the systems.
