Energy Efficiency

The division Energy Efficiency primarily researches and develops functional materials, components and systems for energy technology. One of the main focuses is to develop and optimise insulating materials and highly-efficient insulation systems, such as vacuum insulation, high-temperature insulation materials as well as solar systems for daylighting and low-energy architecture. Other fields include developing and optimising nanoporous carbon aerogels for use in high-temperature insulation systems, low-e ceramics and coatings, and organic solar cells and electronics. All in all, we have a vast know-how in the fields of new materials, innovative components and management of energy systems.

Energy Efficiency Center

The research building includes offices, laboratories and a technical center as well as the corresponding infrastructure for the research activities of ZAE Bayern in Würzburg.

Central Administration

The central administration team, headed by Dipl.-Betriebswirt (FH) Thomas Pharo, maintains liaison between the executive board, the scientific divisions and external partners. The team deals with human resources, controlling, accounting and public relations. They also support and organise the work of the board, the trustees, the scientific advisory committee and the association.
